I wonder if there is such a thing as a universal remote control that works with TV and DVD players. I heard that harmony put one out that is universal, anybody use this? Does it talk?
If you look at some of the companies that advertise for blind people you might find something depending on where you are.
I've seen a software which could make your mobile phone as an universal remote control. but not for all the products. earlier days, my friend was using it for aircondition, tv and for the cd player.
but they have mentioned that it'd work with only some brands.

The Logitech Harmony universal remotes are extremely programable if that was the one you were re refering to. Their website will tell you all the stuff it can work with out of the box as well. How accessable is it .. i don't know.. but you can program it bia usb from a computer as well.
if you have a pacmate you can also use that as a remote.
how can you use your pm as a remote? I'll have to try that out some time.
There is a program called FS commander.
